The SSC CGL Tier 2 exam follows this pattern:
– Paper 1 is divided into three sections, with Section III being qualifying in nature. Paper 1 is mandatory for all candidates.
– Paper 2 is required for candidates applying for the Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Statistical Investigator posts.
– Paper 3 is for Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) posts, but this has not been notified for this year.
The SSC CGL Tier 2 exam selection will be based on marks obtained in Section I and Section II of Paper 1, provided the candidate passes Section III. As seen from the pattern, the major weightage is on English.
Common Problems Faced by Candidates in Tier 2:
1.Time Management in Section I of Paper 1:
Candidates must answer 30 questions each from Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude in 60 minutes, which poses a significant time challenge.
Teammates’ Solution:
Teammates offers 60+ practice sets for Section I, with a 55-minute time limit. This will help you complete the section within the actual exam time comfortably.
2.Excessive Time Allotted for Section II:
The ample time provided for Section II often leads candidates to review questions multiple times and increases the temptation to attempt every question, which can result in negative marking due to careless mistakes.
Teammates’ Solution:
Teammates provides a well-applied strategy, successfully practiced last year, designed to minimize negative marks in Section II by focusing on accuracy rather than over-attempting.
Additional Insights:
This year, more than 17,500 vacancies have been reported, so candidates aiming for 125+ raw marks in the general category should start preparing for Tier 2 without delay.
It’s crucial to understand that extensive new coaching is not necessary for clearing Tier 2. Those who have cleared Tier 1 already have the foundational knowledge required for Tier 2. Attending too many classes may waste valuable time. The focus should be on targeted practice rather than attending numerous classes.
